Context
Students and staff at tertiary institutions continue to suffer from controllable diseases that negatively affect their performance because primary care is prioritized over the other packages in the primary health care continuum. There is also limited data about lifestyle choices at tertiary institutions, yet these institutions are strategically placed to promote lifelong healthy practices. The project aligns with the Uganda National Development Plan III (NDP III) and Uganda Vision 2040. One of the key strategies in section 16.3.1 of NDP III is to support health systems to offer quality and affordable preventive, promotive, curative, and palliative services. Section 5.2 of Uganda Vision 2040 anchors social transformation on a shift from facility-based curative services to community empowerment in disease prevention and health-promotion practices.
